    India is one of the largest importers of edible oil in the world. The Indian vegetable oil industry valued at USD 22 billion is among the world's largest with a 10.2% share in world edible oil consumption. India accounts for 13.6% of the world's vegetable oils Import.

    consumption in India. Imports contribute about 55% of the total domestic edible oil consumption in India. Palm oil constitutes 70% of India's vegetable oil imports. Sunflower oil accounts for 14%, degummed soybean oil accounts for 10% and Rapeseed oil, Coconut oil, etc. make up the balance. The share of Palm Oil in the Indian import and consumption basket will continue to be high because it is preferred by cost conscious consumers and by the Government for its Public Distribution Scheme.

    Crude Palm Oil is the major raw material used in the manufacture of Refined Palm Oil, Super Olein and Vanaspati.
